A one way journey from the Ionian to the Saronic Gulf

Intermediate Sailing – Level 2
Ideal for Explorers
Best for history & culture featuring famous ancient sites

See the changing face of Greece as you sail east from the Ionian islands to our base in Korfos in the Saronic Gulf.

This is a one-way delivery route to sail our fleet from the Ionian towards there winter location. The route takes in the Ionian island of Ithaka before heading to the historical town of Messolonghi on the mainland. We then head to the city of Patras on the Peloponnese before passing under the famous Rio bridge and into the Gulf of Corinth, full of hidden gems.

In the Gulf of Corinth, you’ll have the opportunity to take in the ancient site of Delphi as well as the spectacular mountain railway. We are then going to rest for a day in the stunning town of Galixidi. We then head for Corinth and transit the iconic canal on our way to Epidavros and finally “home” to Korfos.

The Weather

Mid to late October in Greece does see some changeable weather, regardless of where we are sailing, so some lightweight waterproofs is a good idea. More benign conditions will be found at the start of the trip, ideal to get to grips with your yacht, with wind strengths of F3-5 during the first couple of days.

Once we get into the Gulf of Patras and Corinth, expect some freshening breezes, with F4-6 not uncommon.

Temperatures in the day should be “T-Shirt” weather, but the evenings will be cooler, so take a fleece so you can still enjoy al-fresco dining.
