I’ve had an interest in sailing throughout my life and about 4 years ago, I decided to leave my job working in casinos and start sailing professionally. I’ve had the privilege to work on some really unique boats, such as delivering the support boat for a trans-pacific swimmer and working on the oldest boat in the Tall Ships Races 2017. I’m a Yachtmaster Ocean with a wealth of experience, and many stories to tell.
I particularly enjoy exploring new places and learning about the many unique cultures that exist around the world. For me, sailing is all about meeting new people and being amazed by the natural and man-made marvels that exist all over the world.
Growing up in London and holidaying in Cornwall I continually felt a pull to the sea whether it was sailing, swimming or surfing. I moved out of the city as soon as I could and pursued my sailing hobby on the North coast of Cornwall, taking out anything I could get my hands on be it tiny dinghies or ancient battered yachts! After school I wanted to work in the industry and became a hostess to increase my sailing miles. I completed RYA Coastal Skipper and met Charlie somewhere along the way working in Turkey. I am a professionally qualified chef and love to cook which led us naturally to working in cabin charter together. We love our jobs and I confess that as soon as the anchor is dropped and lunch is served I am the first one in the sea. See you in the water!
I have grown up around sailing living in Dartmouth, my first voyage on a boat being 3 weeks old! After school I went straight into a maritime degree, during which I rapidly obtained RYA Yachtmaster. After graduating I took on various jobs throughout the industry including Atlantic crossings, super yachts, professional racing, leading flotillas, private yacht charter and cabin charter. I have sailed throughout the Mediterranean, English Channel, the Caribbean and am continually looking for new places to explore, always preferring warmer waters!
Lee is with Seafarer for his fourth season, having sailed the Ionian in 2017 as a Cruising Instructor. He was previously a guest for some years, and is enjoying the role on the other side of the fence, as it were! This season he combines running our flotilla in the South of France with Cabin charter in the Cyclades
Becky returns to the Seafarer Training team for a second season, after several successful seasons in the Ionian as a freelance Cruising Instructor. She brings a wealth of local knowledge and a passion for sailing that she is keen to share with students. As with many of our crew, Becky is multi-talented – having run flotillas in the Ionian and skippering 580 nautical mile Peloponnese circumnavigation flotilla in April 2019.
Calum returns to Seafarer for 2019, having enjoyed a successful season in 2018, skippering our northern flotilla in Croatia. He is looking forward to skippering our Sporades flotilla in 2019 and making the most of the great sailing breezes in the Aegean. Calum’s favourite aspects of Mediterranean sailing is the fantastic weather, great atmosphere and the sea life, which, as a diver himself, is of particular interest. He says “I’ve loved sailing all my life, and particularly on yacht deliveries, you get to appreciate how peaceful the sea can be”.
Aleksandra returns to her role in Zaton for 2019 after a very successful season in 2018. After graduating Aleksandra has gained her experience in tourism and working with people by being a tour leader in Egypt, sales agent in travel agency and even entertainer in Crete, Greece. She is looking forward to welcoming you to Zaton, and sharing her wealth of local knowledge to ensure you have a fantastic flotilla holiday.
Growing up in the middle of England, Jodie spent much of her life with both feet firmly on dry land. Her first sailing experience was in the English channel in 2014 and she hasn’t looked back since! After sailing in the UK, Cambodia, Croatia and Greece, Jodie qualified as Day Skipper in the summer of 2018 and made the decision to take time out from her career to do something she loves. After experiencing all kinds of harsh weather at sailing Regattas in the Solent, Jodie is extremely excited about spending a season in the sun as 1st mate and helping guests to make the most of their time in the beautiful Sporades.
I was born in Greece to a Greek Father and an English Mother. My studies included information Technology and Hotel Management. I started working with Seafarer at their first Beach Club in the Peloponnese as a Beach Supervisor in 2005, but decided to follow the hospitality side, and I have been a hotel manager for 10 years in the Peloponnese and Lefkas. This year it was about time I return to Seafarer 🙂
It is hard to pick a favourite from all the exciting things Seafarer has to offer but, being Greek, I can’t fail to love our beautiful blue see & sky and especially the turquoise coast of Lefkas.
