Friends & Family Skippered Yacht Charter - Greece
Your Crew, Our Crew, & 7 Days Of Adventure
Sailing is a brilliant holiday for family, families together, or a group of friends. You wake up to the sound of warm water lapping against the hull of your yacht. Taking breakfast and coffee in the sunshine. Then casting off, hoisting sail and setting course for an island just over the horizon. It’s island-hopping Greek style. If you’ve got a sense of adventure it’s the only way to travel.
Your Charter, Your Itinerary
At Seafarer we’ve been doing it for years, leading flotillas of yachts crewed by enthusiastic hobby-sailors keen to get a week or two at sea into their holiday locker. But not everybody is a sailor (yet!). If you’re on this page you’re probably not thinking of skippering a yacht yourself. That doesn’t matter, because all you have to do is charter one of our yachts for your family and/or friends and we’ll supply it complete with a Skipper, plus a First Mate who acts as a housekeeper.
Our Suggested Itineraries
As mentioned above you can plan your own itinerary. Alternatively, we have the following suggested itineraries that show you all the best bits of the area you’re cruising in.
Don’t forget this is your charter, so it can be your itinerary – we’re happy to recommend a route or four, but basically our crew will take you where you want to go and stay as long as you want. You’ll find them very friendly and helpful and keen to show you the ropes. It’s a great, and very safe, introduction to sailing. Although those who want to sunbathe and watch the stunning scenery slip by are most welcome to do nothing!
Suggested Route 1
Fly UK to Preveza and transfer to Preveza town marina for embarkation. Just 15 minutes from the airport, it couldn’t be easier to start your holiday.
Gaios is the main town of Paxos, the island famous for supplying olive oil to Harrods. The bustling town has something for everyone and is well protected by the close lying islands to the east.
Mandraki harbour is the oldest harbour in Corfu, and is situated right beneath the castle walls, a spectacular and convenient location from which to explore the fascinating old town of Corfu, just a few minutes walk away.
A lively little town is our destination this evening, with many great restaurants and bars to choose from for your meal ashore. If weather permits, we stop for a swim in the cave close to the harbour.
Lakka is a stunning bay on the north side of Paxos, and usually the weather permits a beautiful and peaceful night at anchor.
D ominated by the ‘Kasteli’ fortress which is well worth the climb for its spectacular views, this historic and picturesque town is now a well-established resort with plenty of choice for a good night out.
Usually a cracking downwind sail from Parga takes us back to our home port in Preveza. Time for a farewell meal at our favourite backstreet taverna.
Arrivals and departures. Transfer to the airport for your return flight, or if staying for a second week, visit nearby Nikopolis or alternatively join a dolphin watch trip on the Sunday.
Suggested Route II
Fly UK to Preveza and transfer to Preveza town marina for embarkation. Preveza is a working town, with plenty of back streets to explore and some great fish tavernas to choose from.
Meganisi is a beautiful island, and a walk up the hill to the town of Spartochori rewards you with a fantastic view north over the inland sea – best enjoyed with a cold beer or cocktail!
Often referred to as the “St Tropez of the Ionian” Fiskardho, is a chic little town on the north side of Kefalonia offering a stylish evening out in one of the excellent harbour side restaurants.
Aghios Nikolaos is a great place from which to catch the daily boats around to the famous shipwreck bay, one of the most photographed spots in Greece.
One of our favourite stops is the capital of Ithaca, set deep into the bay. Wander the backstreets of the town to discover some great little bars and restaurants.
Syvota is a fantastic natural harbour on the south side of Lefkada island, well protected and secure, the harbour is bordered by many wonderful tavernas.
Today we head back to Preveza, our home port. Time for a quick lunch stop in Lefkas town before heading through the canal and to Preveza. Join us in the evening for a meal at our favourite spot.
Arrivals and departures. For those staying on for 2 weeks, a chance to explore the town or relax on the yacht. You can also take a trip to Vonitsa, a traditional Greek resort town in the gulf of Amvrakiko.
This adventure comes complete with creature comforts
- You don’t need to share facilities on our 52’ yachts as the 4 guest cabins have their own en suite loo and shower. The saloon is a decent size but in our experience most people prefer to be on deck – if the weather gets really hot you’re welcome to sleep on deck under the stars.
- Most days, after breakfast, we aim to sail between 20 and 30 nautical miles. We make regular swim-stops, lay on a light lunch and generally aim to be moored-up in harbour in the middle of the afternoon so you can jump ashore to explore and have a drink. The skipper will share his local knowledge on things you might like to do when we land.
- Dinner is the one thing we don’t provide on board. A large part of the island-hopping experience is being able to try local delicacies and specialities. This is your opportunity to take in the local colour, seek out the Taverna of your choice, and try something different.
