Kefalonia - Yacht Charter & Bareboat Sailing Base

Aghia Eufimia harbour, on the east side of the island of Kefalonia, is great location from which to start your exploration of the southern Ionian islands. From here you can head south to the island of Zakynthos and across to the Peloponnese coast and the gulf of Patras.

If you wish to head north, the islands of Lefkas, Meganisi, Ithaca and others are all within a days sail away.

Kefalonia Route

Day 1

Fly Uk to Kefalonia and transfer to Aghia Eufimia harbour for embarkation.

Day 2

Fiskardho, Kefalonia (11 nm) – lively and sophisticated but retaining some traditional Greek charm and character, a great place for people watching.

Day 3

Assos (12 nm) – Sail around the north coast of the island, heading for the secluded village of Assos. On your approach you will see quaint and colourful houses decorating the hillsides and the famous 15th century fort occupying the peninsula – built to protect the village from pirate raids.

Day 4

Argostoli – A large, cosmopolitan town which was rebuilt after a destructive earthquake in 1953. Visit Villianos Square – the hub of Argostoli – where you will find an impressive choice of tavernas and can experience buzzing Greek town nightlife.

Day 5

Poros – Walk over the hill and discover some excellent beachside tavernas. Explore the Cave of Drakena, known in Greek Mythology as the Sanctuary of the Nymphs and the god Pana.

Day 6

Sami – A laidback town steeped in ancient history. Sami offers white sand beaches with stunningly clear emerald waters – perfect for cooling off. So beautiful are these beaches that they were chosen as a set location for infamous Hollywood film “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.”

Day 7

Aghia Eufimia – A quaint fishing village surrounded by glorious green mountains. Enjoy your final evening soaking up the slow-paced atmosphere in a waterfront taverna.

Day 8

Disembark and transfer to Kefalonia airport.

Ithaca Route

Day 1

Fly UK to Kefalonia and transfer to Aghia Eufimia harbour for embarkation.

Day 2

Poros, Kefalonia (14 nm) – Enjoy a great sail down the channel between Kefalonia and Ithaca.Walk over the hill and discover some excellent beachside tavernas. Explore the Cave of Drakena, known in Greek Mythology as the Sanctuary of the Nymphs and the god Pana.

Day 3

Katakolon, Kylini, Peloponnese (23 nm) – The gateway to Olympia. Simply enjoy the boutiques, wine bars and cafes or pay a visit to the Museum of Ancient Greek Technology to discover the surprising methods used by the locals in ancient times.

Day 4

Zakynthos Town (16 nm) – The commercial hub of Zakynthos (Zante) island. Unlike many Greek towns that were destroyed by the 1953 earthquake, the buildings were reconstructed in traditional Venetian-style. There are plenty of museums to choose from or wander around the atmospheric Solomos Square.

Day 5

Aghios Nikolaos, Zakynthos (13 nm) – Moor in the harbour and take a day trip to explore Shipwreck Bay and the Blue Caves – unmissable sites when in this part of Greece.

Day 6

Sami, Kefalonia – A laidback town steeped in ancient history. Sami offers white sand beaches with stunningly clear emerald waters – perfect for cooling off. So beautiful are these beaches that they were chosen as a set location for infamous Hollywood film “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.”

Day 7

Return to Aghia Eufimia –  – A quaint fishing village surrounded by glorious green mountains. Enjoy your final evening soaking up the slow-paced atmosphere in a waterfront taverna.

Day 8

Disembark and transfer to Kefalonia airport.

There are direct scheduled and charter flights to Kefalonia from a broad range of destinations. You can also connect within Greece via Athens. Corfu and Zakythos.  Kefalonia airport, is about a 55 minute transfer from our charter base at Aghia Efymia. A public bus to Aghia Efymia operates from the island’s capital Argostoli, but if flying, it is easiest to book a direct transfer from the airport to our base with us.
If arriving by car or bus  from the mainland, you can take ferries from Kylini, Patras and Astakos. These generally arrive into Poros and Sami on Kefalonia which are within easy reach of Aghia Efymia. A ferry also operates from Nidri in  Lefkas to Fiskardo.
