Family sailing holidays, on land or at sea, are without doubt one of the finest ways to spend time together. Not only is there a great feeling of teamwork, but there are also chances to share experiences with others.

At Seafarer we have a number of family sailing holidays to choose from. They let you spend time together and time apart, generally with the kids away having the time of their lives. Read on for some great holiday options, both on land and at sea.

Family flotilla sailing

Summer holiday flotilla sailing has always been a popular option for families, and it’s easy to see why. Time spent sailing between stops becomes a great teamwork opportunity, where everyone gets as involved as they like. Swim stops for lunch are a chance to swim in pristine waters and enjoy beautiful coves and bays. Getting into harbour at the end of the day is a chance to meet other families. Meanwhile, children can enjoy activities with others their own age. Finally, sociable evening meals in local tavernas let everyone share stories of the day’s sailing and plan tomorrow’s adventures.

All our flotillas have a range of yachts for families of all sizes. For example, a Sun Odyssey 33i, which suits a smaller family, is available in the height of August for £2,630. We can also organise flights from a large range of UK airports, for an easy and great value family package.

Family flotilla kids clubs

Selected Seafarer flotillas run a full kids club programme in the summer holidays. Activities run throughout the day, but mainly in the afternoon, once all the yachts reach the new port. An experienced Seafarer kids club rep organises the activities. These include dinghy racing, model boat racing, treasure hunts, bay olympics and snorkelling trips to local beauty spots. The activities are, of course, optional. So there’s no need to worry if there’s a lovely wind and you want to stay out sailing late.

Family sailing holidays at Nikiana Beach Club

A slightly different, but equally great, option for family sailing holidays is Nikiana Beach Club, on Lefkas. Our beach club offers unlimited sailing and other watersports in a small and friendly waterfront setting. What makes Nikiana Beach Club so great for families is its size. With a maximum of 80 guests, everyone gets to know each other in no time. In addition, the club’s compact layout keeps everyone safe and free.

The club has a variety of rooms. For instance, a family room for 4 people, with flights from London Gatwick, costs £3,788 in the very height of August.

Kids clubs at the beach club

During May half term and the summer holidays, Nikiana Beach Club runs a number of kids clubs for different ages. These take place for 3 hours each day, and include sailing, windsurfing and paddlesports, alongside plenty more water-based fun. Every year these kids clubs lead to lasting friendships, and they contribute to the excellent atmosphere at the club.

RYA sailing courses for families

For children who want to learn to sail or windsurf, we run the full range of RYA stage courses for ages 7 to 13. Each course runs over 4 half days during the week. Older children and parents can also take RYA level courses, again over 4 half days.

Stay and sail family holidays

You can, of course, combine the two into a perfect stay and sail holiday. A week at Nikiana Beach Club followed by a week on the Lefkas flotilla is one of our most popular family sailing holidays over the summer. It offers a great range of activities to suit everyone’s tastes.

For example, a week in a family room at Nikiana Beach Club and a week on a Sun Odyssey 36i (a great option for 4 people) costs £6,539.
