A two week cruise through the British Virgin Islands
We are delighted to announce our return to the British Virgin Islands, starting with a two week explorer flotilla, starting on the 13th February 2027. We begin our journey in Hodges Creek Marina, just 10 minutes from Beef Island International airport. In the two weeks you’ll be with us, we will visit as many of the 60 islands and islets that make up this archipelago as possible. Some of our favourites are Norman Island, Cooper Island, Anegada, Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke – we will visit them all as we circumnavigate Tortola itself.
The majority of the evenings will be spent on mooring buoys – secure and private, and perfect for an early evening swim. Most locations have smaller wooden docks for our dinghies, making for an easy trip to shore for dinner and provisioning. The specific itinerary will be weather dependent, but we will certainly visit all the islands found in the highlights below. One exception to this will be the middle Saturday of the flotilla, when we would like to be in Trellis Bay, home to the legendary “Full Moon Party”.

Area Information & History
The British Virgin Islands’ history is inseparable from the sea. Amerindian peoples, first the Arawaks and later the seafaring Kalinago, navigated these waters by canoe long before Columbus sighted the islands in 1493, naming them for the legendary eleven thousand virgins of Saint Ursula. Spanish, Dutch, and English sailors contested the archipelago’s sheltered anchorages, and by the late seventeenth century England had secured control, drawn by the deep-water channel now called the Sir Francis Drake Channel. Piracy flourished here, with figures like Blackbeard reputedly using Norman Island as a haunt, while Anegada’s treacherous reefs claimed hundreds of wrecks and sustained a local salvaging economy. Sugar and salt were shipped from Road Town’s harbor under sail, and the islands’ many protected coves made them ideal for both trade and evasion. Today that same geography, calm leeward waters framed by closely spaced islands, has made the BVI a true Yachtie’s paradise.
Weather & Sailing Conditions
February in the BVI is in the dry season, with north-easterly trade winds blowing consistently, occasionally veering easterly. Wind speed on average is around 12-15 knots (force 4) but often freshens a bit, with force 5, touching 6 not uncommon, particularly when the “Christmas winds” linger. Cracking sailing conditions, with the Sir Francis Drake channel protected from the north-easterly swell. Air temperatures are stable – around 28°C and the sea temperature around 26°C – lovely. February is also one of the driest months, so for us sailors, it’s the perfect combination!

Getting there and away
There are several routes to choose from, whether you are joining us for the flotilla or combining it with a larger trip. We are located in Hodges Creek Marina, just 10 minutes by car from Terrance B. Lettsome Airport, formerly known as Beef Island Airport, which serves as the main airport for the BVI. The Seafarer flotilla in the BVI starts on Saturday with yachts being available to embark from around 17:00 onwards on the first day and disembarking around 09:00 at the end of the flotilla.

Your flight inclusive holiday with us (should you choose this option) is financially secure as we are ATOL licensed, making the entire package ATOL protected. We have been trading since 1995 so you can book with total confidence.
Flights
Flights from London to BVI via Antigua, which offers the minimum journey time with either British Airways or Virgin Atlantic. Other routing is possible, either via Barbados or via the US & Puerto Rico, with US carriers. Flights available from around £1,000 per person, depending on total journey duration and routing.
Bus & Taxi
The easiest way to get to Hodges Creek marina is via a taxi – readily available outside the terminal. Guideline price is $30 for 1 to 2 passengers, $12 per passenger for larger parties. The journey takes 10 minutes…15 during rush hour!
