Our RYA watersports courses run at our dinghy, windsurf and powerboat school at Nikiana Beach Club on the island of Lefkas in Greece.
Learning to sail or windsurf in the warm and sunny Ionian has obvious advantages. Even in early season, the water is warm enough that wetsuits are not needed. In addition, light winds in the morning and fresher winds in the afternoon mean that all abilities are catered for.
Many guests book a course during their one or two-week holiday. Afterwards, they have plenty of opportunity to practise their new skills, because there is a wide range of craft and unlimited use each day. Powerboat courses, meanwhile, suit anyone who may buy a powerboat in future, or who wants to formalise their skills for a sailing club or school.
Whatever course you choose, English-speaking RYA-qualified instructors teach you at a centre run and equipped to the stringent RYA safety standards, as well as those of the Hellenic Coastguard.

RYA Dinghy Sailing Courses

RYA Level 1 Start Sailing
An introduction to the sport of sailing. It covers all you need to know to get afloat under supervision.

RYA Level 2 Basic Skills
This course sets out the foundations of sailing: rigging, launching, sailing in all directions, capsize recovery and essential safety knowledge. Most UK centres ask for RYA Level 2 before you can hire a sailing dinghy.

RYA Level 3 Better Sailing
This course consolidates your Level 1 and 2 skills with further coaching and taster sessions from the advanced modules. By the end, you will be more confident and ready to progress onto the advanced modules.

A course for complete beginners that teaches you the basics of windsurfing on the right equipment. By the end, you should be able to sail to a chosen point and return to your starting point in light winds.

Powerboat & Yachting
RYA Powerboat & Yachting Courses

RYA Powerboat Level 1 & 2 (Includes ICC Power)
Aimed at budding power boaters, the Level 2 course gives you the knowledge to handle a small powerboat, plus safety standards and basic meteorology and maintenance. The RYA Powerboat Level 2 is seen worldwide as the powerboat licence. We also include the ICC application (a small fee applies if you are not an RYA member), which allows you to rent a powerboat worldwide.

RYA Safety Boat Course
More advanced powerboating, ideal for anyone joining a sailing school or becoming a senior dinghy or windsurf instructor. It is available on demand and bookable in resort.
