World-class Windsurfing in the Aegean
The island of Kos has long been known as a centre of excellence, with windsurfers travelling from around the globe to take advantage of the world-class windsurfing conditions. Tucked away on the southern tip of Kos, Kefalos is the westernmost town on the island 43 km from Kos Town and a 20-minute transfer from the airport. Our Beach Club here, on a huge sandy beach, is operated by long-established specialists ‘Kefalos Windsurfing’ who offer truly first class windsurfing equipment to suit all abilities from beginner to expert. A more recent development has been the introduction of foiling, with ideal conditions and the latest equipment.
The beachfront location is stunning, though the extensive range of top quality windsurfing and foiling equipment plus the idyllic windsurfing conditions in an uncrowded bay are the real highlights of this centre. Beach based windsurfing doesn’t get much better than this. With the more recent introduction of foiling you really have it all in one great location.

How the Centre Works
The idea is a simple one – locate a windsurfing centre in one of the world’s best locations for consistent, sheltered winds Add first-class equipment, seasoned crew and the Aegean charm of Kos and you get the recipe for an amazing playground for watersports enthusiasts. Windsurfing and wing foiling reign supreme, with dinghy sailing and SUPs for the calm moments on the water.
01 · The Hotel
Stay right on the waterfront.
Our chosen beachfront accommodation is the Ionikos Beach Hotel — just a 300-metre stroll along the beach from Kefalos Windsurfing. It offers comfortable rooms, a buffet breakfast, a modern pool, a sea-front garden and terrace, with a restaurant and bar on site.

02 · Accommodation Plus
Perfect for windsurfers — and those who don’t.
Prices are based on two people sharing a room but, because we know couples often arrive where “one windsurfs and one doesn’t”, we structure on an Accommodation Plus basis. If you want the windsurfing package you pay extra; if not, you can simply hang out around the pool or on the beach. Larger rooms sleeping up to four are available for families and groups of friends.

The idea is a simple one — locate a windsurfing centre in one of the world’s best spots for consistent, sheltered winds in an uncrowded bay.
Add first-class equipment, seasoned crew and the Greek island charm of Kos, and you get an amazing playground for water sports enthusiasts. Windsurfing and wing foiling reign supreme, with dinghy sailing and SUPs for the calmer moments earlier in the day.

Whether you’re starting out or refining advanced skills, our highly experienced team will supervise your progress. Learning follows the RYA method and all our instructors are RYA or VDWS qualified — the centre has been an official VDWS centre since 2010.

Location
Kos is one of the most beautiful and largest islands in the Aegean (it is the third largest island in the Dodecanese after Rhodes and Karpathos and has the second highest population after Rhodes).
The village of Kefalos strung along the extensive sandy beach offers a good choice of restaurants, cafes and shops and is just a short stroll from our chosen hotel and the windsurfing centre. The wider area also offers great opportunities to explore, with archaeological sites such as the Asklepeion, the ancient home of Hippocrates the father of the medical profession, well worth a visit. The attractive capital of the island is perfect for a lively evening out and it is all within easy reach.
Weather
This area is blessed with warm sunshine over 300 days a year. Temperatures from early May range from the low to mid 20s in the early and late season, up to the mid to high 30s between mid-June and August. The Meltemi winds are generally stronger from July to mid-September with afternoon winds from force 4 to force 6 almost every day. Even when breezes aren’t forecast, the geographically location of Kefalos Bay along with the thermal aspects means good afternoon breezes are highly likely.

You have the option of booking the full package with us with ATOL protection Flights are available from London, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow & Nottingham to Kos Airport. Flight time 3 hours 40 minutes.

Hotel Ionikos - Kefalos Beach
This family run hotel is located in a quieter part of Kefalos beach. The accommodation offers its guests pleasantly furnished rooms, a seaside garden and a swimming pool with a sun terrace. The main advantage of this hotel is it’s great location directly on the magnificent sandy beach of Kefalos, with a panoramic view of the adjacent islet of Kastri with the Basilica of St. Stefanos, which completes the magical scenery of Kefalos. There are several tavernas and a mini market in the vicinity of the hotel, whilst Kefalos windsurfing centre is just a short 300m stroll along the beach.
The well appointed comfortable rooms include garden view twin and doubles, each with an ensuite bathroom, a balcony and air-conditioning. The hotel also offers side sea view and full sea view rooms at a modest supplement. Other room amenities include a TV and of course free wifi.
