Beach Club Holidays: Are They Right for Your Family?
Family holidays often begin with a negotiation. One person wants to spend every day on the water. Another would rather relax beside the pool. Meanwhile, the children need enough independence and activity to keep everyone happy.
Beach club holidays are designed to accommodate those differences. Guests can learn new watersports, improve existing skills or simply enjoy the setting at their own pace. Opening in 2027, Poseidon Beach Club near Preveza brings this flexibility to a spacious beachfront setting in Western Greece.
How do beach club holidays work?
Beach club holidays combine hotel accommodation with easy access to sailing, windsurfing and other watersports. Instead of arranging individual activities with separate providers, guests have equipment and instructors available within the resort.
At Poseidon Beach Club, the watersports centre operates throughout the day. Guests can use dinghies, catamarans, windsurfing equipment, paddleboards and kayaks, subject to weather conditions. Regular sailing clinics also offer opportunities to build confidence and improve existing skills.
However, nobody has to follow the same schedule. Some family members may spend hours on the water, while others join occasionally or concentrate on relaxing. That freedom is central to how the holiday works.

Do you need previous watersports experience?
No previous sailing or windsurfing experience is required. Poseidon offers equipment and instruction for complete beginners, improving sailors and more experienced guests.
Additionally, conditions change naturally throughout the day. Morning winds usually arrive from the south at around Force 2–3, creating a useful period for beginners and less-confident sailors. During the afternoon, stronger north-westerly winds of around Force 4–5 provide more challenge for intermediate and advanced guests.
Beginners can take part in clinics or arrange additional tuition. Meanwhile, experienced sailors and windsurfers can choose equipment suited to their ability and spend more time sailing independently.
This means different ability levels can share the same holiday without being placed on an identical programme.
What do children and teenagers actually do?
During standard school-holiday weeks, Poseidon operates included watersports clubs for children and teenagers aged 7–17.
The clubs normally divide participants into three age groups: 7–10, 11–14 and 15–17. However, the exact groupings may change according to the ages and number of children staying that week.
Activities include dinghy sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding and kayaking. Each group spends either a morning or afternoon on the water from Monday to Saturday. Sessions are led by RYA-qualified instructors and adapted to the participants’ existing experience.
Therefore, children are not simply occupied away from their parents. They have the opportunity to learn practical skills, gain confidence and meet other young people through shared activities.
Children under seven can still enjoy the pools, beach and play areas. However, they are not included in the advertised watersports club programme.

What if someone does not want to do watersports?
Watersports may be central to the club, but they do not have to dominate everybody’s holiday.
Poseidon has a main swimming pool, a separate children’s pool and a wide beachfront with sun loungers. There is also a large garden with shaded areas, plus indoor and outdoor play spaces for children.
The beachside taverna and bar provide somewhere to meet after time apart. A few local tavernas and a small shop are within walking distance as well.
For those wanting to explore, Preveza, ancient Nikopolis, the Nekromanteion and the Acheron Springs are possible outings. Taxis and buses can be arranged for evenings in Kanali or Preveza.
Consequently, one person can spend the afternoon windsurfing while another reads beside the pool. Both can still feel that they are sharing the same holiday.
What is included in a Poseidon holiday?
A Poseidon Beach Club holiday includes accommodation, breakfast and use of the watersports equipment. Plus, regular sailing clinics and a regatta are included, alongside the children’s club during eligible school-holiday weeks.
Guests booking a flight-inclusive package receive flights and airport transfers too. Accommodation-only holidays are available for those arranging their own travel.
Lunch and dinner are not automatically included. However, guests can add a half-board package covering breakfast and either lunch or dinner. Private sailing and windsurfing tuition are also available at an additional cost.
Knowing this before booking helps you compare total costs with a hotel stay and separately booked activities.
How easy is Poseidon Beach Club to reach?
Poseidon is located on a quiet section of Kanali and Monolithi Beach, near the mainland town of Preveza.
Preveza/Aktio Airport is approximately 30 minutes away. Shared and private transfers generally take between 25 and 30 minutes. This keeps the journey from airport to beach relatively simple, particularly for families travelling with children and watersports equipment.
Flight-inclusive packages are available from the UK. Alternatively, guests can book accommodation only and arrange their own flights.
Can you combine a beach club with a sailing holiday?
Yes. Poseidon can form the land-based half of a two-week Sail & Stay holiday.
Seafarer’s yacht base at Nikiana in Lefkas is less than an hour away. Guests can spend one week at Poseidon before joining a flotilla or taking a yacht on bareboat charter. Alternatively, they can combine Poseidon with a second beach club week at Nikiana.
For new sailors, a beach club week provides time to practise before joining a yacht. More experienced crews may prefer to begin with the flotilla and finish with a flexible hotel-based week.
Either order creates two distinct experiences without requiring another flight or a complicated transfer between destinations.

Who will Poseidon Beach Club suit best?
Poseidon is particularly well suited to families containing different ages, interests and watersports abilities.
It offers beginners a supported introduction, while experienced sailors and windsurfers have equipment and stronger afternoon conditions available. Children aged 7–17 can join the organised watersports clubs. Less-active family members can enjoy the beach, pools and wider resort facilities.
The location will also appeal to guests who prefer a quieter beachfront base. Those seeking extensive nightlife, an all-inclusive resort or organised childcare for under-sevens may prefer a different holiday style.
Are beach club holidays right for your family?
Beach club holidays work particularly well when a family wants to spend time together without doing everything together.
At Poseidon, one person can learn to sail, another can windsurf, and someone else can relax beside the pool. Children and teenagers can build confidence on the water before everyone reunites at the end of the day.
