See the changing face of Greece as you sail east from the Ionian islands to our base in Korfos in the Saronic Gulf.
This is a one-way delivery route to sail our fleet from the Ionian towards there winter location. The route takes in the Ionian island of Ithaka before heading to the historical town of Messolonghi on the mainland. We then head to the city of Patras on the Peloponnese before passing under the famous Rio bridge and into the Gulf of Corinth, full of hidden gems.
In the Gulf of Corinth, you’ll have the opportunity to take in the ancient site of Delphi as well as the spectacular mountain railway. We are then going to rest for a day in the stunning town of Galixidi. We then head for Corinth and transit the iconic canal on our way to Epidavros and finally “home” to Korfos.
The end of our summer season in Kefalonia is marked by a fantastic one way trip heading East. It’s farewell but not goodbye to our friends in Kefalonia as we head off – first to Ithaca and Zakynthos in the Ionian Sea before turning west and heading into the Gulf of Patras. First stop in the gulf is on the northern shore, and a visit to Messalonghi, where Byron spent his final days, before we cross to the northern coast of the Peloponnese and a visit to Patras, the third largest city in Greece. From there we sail under the spectacular Rio bridge and head for Trizonia, a gem of an island, on the way to Galaxidi. South-east from here, we visit Antikyra and the lovely unspoilt islands of the Alkyonides before reaching Corinth town. The next day sees us cross this iconic landmark and entering the Saronic gulf before reaching our winter port of Korfos and the end of our odyssey.
The weather in October can be changeable, with typical daytime temperatures in the mid 20s with slightly cooler evenings. Wind strength is typically force 3 to 5, although be prepared for stiffer breezes at this time of year. With warm daytime temperatures and water that has been heated during the summer, a swim is still a very pleasant experience.
