1 WEEK ROUTE IN THE SARONIC GULF

Day 1

UK to Athens and transfer to Alimos marina, Kalamaki for embarkation.

Day 2

Epidavros – Mainland. – 31nm – named after the son of Apollo. No doubt you will want to enjoy your first day in the refreshing emerald waters of one of Epidavros’ beautiful beaches but if you can, you must visit the ancient theatre just 30 minutes inland – one of the best preserved of its kind.

Day 3

Island of Hydra. – 32nm – favourite weekend getaway for Athenians. You will find no cars on this island – everything is transported by donkey. Art buffs will want to wander around the galleries or visit the National Historical Museum of art and history.

Day 4

Island of Spetses. – 15nm – an idyllic, affluent island with an attractive promenade. Shop in the luxury, local boutiques or hire mopeds and find some hidden treasures.

Day 5

Island of Poros. – 26nm – another destination of choice for Athenians. Trail through the fragrant Lemon Forest or hit the streets towards the local Clocktower landmark.

Day 6

Island of Aegina. – 13nm – a formidable naval centre in ancient times and known as the capital of Greece for a short period in the 19th century. This picture-perfect island has a bustling port, neoclassical architecture, fabulous seafood and several significant archeological sites.

Day 7

Return to Alimos marina, kalamaki. – 17nm – spend your final evening exploring Athens City Centre and -if you arrive early enough- the ancient Acropolis.

Day 8

Disembark and transfer to Athens airport.

2 WEEK ROUTE IN THE CYCLADES

Day 1

UK to Athens and transfer to Alimos marina, Kalamaki for embarkation.

Day 2

Vourkari – Island of Kea. – 14nm – a popular weekend spot for wealthy Athenians. Trail the road from Vourkari to Otzia to visit the prehistoric Copper Age villa and ancient churches. End your evening enjoying fresh lobster dishes and Greek wine in a Vourkari Bay taverna.

Day 3

Ermoupolis – Island of Syros. – 34nm – owing its name to Hermes – the god of trade – in past times, this city was a prosperous cultural and commercial hub. Evidence of the city’s wealth can still be seen in the extravagant marble squares and imposing buildings making for some wonderful walks around the city. You may be lucky enough to catch a concert performance in Miaouli Square or an event in the Apollo Theatre.

Day 4

Island of Tinos. – 14nm – witness the white cubist architecture of this ‘Holy Island’ which sees thousands of Greek Orthodox pilgrims visit every year.

Day 5

Island of Mykonos. – 10nm – named after the grandson of Apollo – has become a favourite Greek destination in recent years. Infamous for its party scene, excellent food, stylish shops & restaurants and stunning architecture. Visit ‘Little Venice’ to see the whitewashed buildings and colourful balconies it is known for.

Day 6

Naoussa – Island of Paros. – 20nm – a picturesque fishing village built around a colourful port. Explore the Venetian fortress to the north of the port.

Day 7

Island of Ios. – 32nm – known for its raucous nightlife but also for its wonderful beaches. Stick to exploring Chora, the capital, only in the daytime and head to Manganari Bay and one of its peaceful beaches.

Day 8

Island of Santorini. – 20nm – formed from centuries of intensive volcanic activity and the romantic getaway of choice for many couples. Get lost in the streets of the capital, ‘Fira’, where the infamous white and pastel-coloured buildings cascade magnificently over the island.

Day 9

Island of Folegandros. – 25nm – 30nm – a small but charming island. Head to  Angali Beach for a day’s relaxing in the sun or hike along the well-trodden donkey paths to explore the island on foot.

Day 10

Adamandas – Island of Milos. – 34nm – a  modern seaside village. Search for beaches that can only be accessed by boat and enjoy the buzz of Greek village nightlife in the evening.

Day 11

Vathi bay & Kamares – Island of Sifnos. – 29nm – Kamares is a family-friendly beach town with a warm, shallow bay which is perfect for little ones – or those who like to ‘paddle’. If you’re feeling fit, pack a picnic and climb up towards one of the mountainside monasteries for some incredible lunch time views. Vathi is an equally beautiful horseshoe shaped bay with calm and clear waters. It has a picturesque village – perfect for leisurely walks.

Day 12

Psili Ammos and Livadi Island of Serifos. – 20nm – Psili Ammos means ‘soft sand’ in reference to its inviting beaches. Sail 4nm or hike to the port of Livadi. Set your alarm early and enjoy a sunrise coffee in a bayside cafe.

Day 13

Merichas – Island of Kythnos. – 18nm. – 31nm – the main port of the island with some lively nightlife. At dinner, keep it authentic with local specialities, such as, ‘kolopia’ (pie with vegetables) and  ‘sfougata’ (croquettes made from goat’s cheese).

Day 14

Return to Alimos marina, Kalamaki. – 45nm – spend your final evening exploring Athens City Centre and -if you arrive early enough- the ancient Acropolis.

Day 15

Disembark and transfer to Athens airport.

Alimos Marina, Kalamaki, is one of the largest marinas in Greece with a 1000 permanent positions. The Marina is located South West of Athens 15 Km from the city center, 8 Km South of Piraeus port and 30 km from the International Airport. It is served by a dense transportation network of Trams, Buses and Taxis, with stations 500 metres from the Marina, for those wanting to explore Athens before or after their voyage.

If arriving by plane to Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos, you can either take a taxi to the marina, or alternatively the bus X96 (to Pireas) stops directly outside the marina. The same bus can be used in the opposite direction if arriving by ferry into Pireas.

If you are beginning your trip with a hotel stay in Athens, then you can easily get to the marina on the tram from Syntagma square – Alimos marina is marked on the route and the tram stops directly outside the marina.
