Seafarer Training runs RYA & other courses from our bases in Greece, Croatia and the UK. Our courses are taught by experienced instructors who have a real passion for sailing and are an ideal way to train, whether you are starting out, getting the licence to skipper a yacht on your own or refreshing your skills.
Our centres in Greece & Croatia run week long courses RYA Courses in the warm weather and stunning scenery of the islands they visit. During the summer months, these training yachts will operate alongside the flotilla allowing you to enjoy some of the social side of sailing with others and children to make use of kids club in the summer holidays. Our UK training centre is perfect for those preparing to sailing abroad with 5 day RYA courses running alongside weekend refresher courses.

Seafarer Training Greece
Location – Lefkas, summer and Athens winter
Courses – RYA Start Yachting, Competent Crew, Day Skipper & Coastal Skipper
Times – 7 Nights, Lefkas Sunday arrival, Athens Saturday arrival
Dates – Lefkas, April to October, Athens November & February/March
Prices – From £745 (saloon berth)
Airport – Preveza Summer, Athens winter
Transfers – 40 minutes (both bases)
With 3 full time training yachts Seafarer Training Greece is our largest RYA centre and over the summer runs alongside our Lefkas Flotilla. From April to October we operate from the island of Lefkas and explore the stunning Ionian islands, visiting a new port each night. Seafarer Training UK
Location – Southampton, UK
Courses – RYA Start Yachting, Competent Crew, Day Skipper & Coastal Skipper + ICC preparation, rusty skipper weekends & tidal milebuilders
Times – 5 day weekday courses and 2 day weekend courses
Dates – February to October

Our UK training centre, based in Southampton is perfect for those wanting to train before a holiday abroad. Our training area is the busy and well-established Solent which is full of everything we need for a great course while exploring fascinating rivers and the Isle of Wight, spending each night in a different location. Dates – June to October

Our second Mediteranean RYA centre is located in stunning Croatia and over the summer runs alongside our Split Flotilla. From June to October we operate from the city of Split and explore both the Dalmatian coastline and the Croatian islands, visiting a new port each night. The RYA
The RYA is a world-recognised organisation authorised by the UK Maritime Coastguard Agency to issue international certificates of competence.
Seafarer instructors for both RYA and non-RYA courses are fully qualified commercially endorsed Yachtmasters and Cruising Instructors as a minimum. Our instructors deliver a challenging syllabus to take you from no experience to a qualified licensed skipper through a series of RYA courses outlined on our Yacht syllabus pages.
We have 4 RYA Training Centres and our yachts, dinghies and other watersports equipment meets the high standards demanded by the RYA. This means that our yachts are equipped with safety and training equipment that usually exceeds the requirements of the county it is based in. Tuition yachts are regularly inspected and comply with RYA / MCA guidelines and Codes of Practice for Sail Training Yachts.
Our standards
At Seafarer, we make sure that all our courses are both safe and enjoyable, offering a high standard of tuition and comfort. At all of our schools, we ensure:
- You are under the supervision of an RYA qualified instructor while at sea.
- All our RYA instructors hold the requisite first aid certificates. They are fluent in English (all courses delivered in English, as per RYA regulations).
- Safety equipment on our tuition yachts complies with both local and British regulations.
- All yachts have DSC VHF radios, handheld VHF radios and mobile phones.
- Slim-line inflatable life jackets, harnesses and crotch straps are provided for each person aboard, with extra spares carried.
- For your comfort, all yachts are equipped with Bimini sun tops (sun shade), hot water, 2 SH/WC, deck shower, electric fridge, fully equipped galley and onboard music player.
- Accommodation on board is in double, twin or single cabins, or you can book a saloon berth. Sheets, pillowcases, pillows, blankets, duvets and towels are all provided. (for our UK school we recommend you bring your own sleeping bags and towels)
- Instructor/student ratio is maintained at a maximum of 5 students per instructor, in line with the RYA codes of practice.
RYA Dinghy Sailing, Windsurfing & Powerboat Courses
Nikiana Beach Club is a beach front hotel on the Greek Island of Lefkas has been running since 2011. The club boasts a huge range of kit in a incredably sociable atmosphere and teachs the following courses:
