Greece is one of the best places in Europe for active holidays, especially with children. The sea is warm and clear, many beaches shelve gently, and the sunshine is reliable from late spring to early autumn. Greek culture is famously welcoming to families, too: kids are part of the evening at every taverna.

Kids clubs run Monday to Saturday in the summer holidays and May half-term, with sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding, and kayaking. Groups can change with the number and ages of children in resort.
Free clinics and courses
Every Monday morning at Nikiana, a free one-hour sailing refresher helps you brush up on the basics or decide whether to book a course. Free clinics run through the week too, usually a Saturday morning race clinic before the regatta, a catamaran clinic, and a spinnaker or beginner windsurfing clinic. Each lasts about two hours, starts with a short session on land, and needs no sign-up.
Want more? RYA courses cost from £99pp for four half days, and private tuition from £45 an hour. Windsurfing at Nikiana is for beginners (RYA Start Windsurf), while Poseidon will have an intermediate windsurfing instructor and more advanced kit from 2027.

Travel
Getting there
Both clubs are reached through Preveza (Aktio) airport. Our own Sunday morning charter flies from London Gatwick in about three hours, and there are direct Sunday flights from Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh, and other London airports. Shared or private transfers take around 35 minutes to Nikiana and 25 to 30 minutes to Poseidon.

What ages are the kids clubs for?
Our free kids clubs at Nikiana run in the summer holidays and May half-term for ages 7 to 17, in three groups: Turbo Tackers (7 to 10), Surf Squad (11 to 13), and Beach Bums (14 to 17).
Are watersports included?
Yes. Use of the dinghies, windsurfers, paddleboards, and kayaks is included, weather permitting. At Nikiana there are free sailing clinics too, while RYA courses and private tuition are optional extras.
Which beach club is best for families?
Both suit families. Nikiana has a sheltered bay, family rooms, free kids clubs, and a Kids Stay Free offer. Poseidon is brand new for 2027, with sea-view family rooms on one of Europe’s longest beaches.
When is the best time for a family beach holiday in Greece?
The season runs from May to early October. July and August are warmest, with kids clubs from mid-July (and in May half-term), while May, June, and September are quieter and often better value.
