Join us for Greek Easter, exploring the Cyclades and the Peloponnese
This is a great chance to start the Mediterranean sailing season with an exploration of the Cyclades islands and the Peloponnese, with the middle weekend highlighting probably the most important Greek annual celebration, Easter.
Greek Easter, or Pascha, is the most important holiday in Greece, filled with meaningful traditions and joyful gatherings. During Holy Week, families attend church services and prepare for the celebration by dyeing red eggs on Holy Thursday. Good Friday brings solemn processions with the decorated Epitaphios. On Holy Saturday at midnight, the church fills with candlelight as the priest proclaims “Christos Anesti!”, and fireworks mark the Resurrection. Families then break the fast with magiritsa. Easter Sunday is devoted to feasting—often with roasted lamb—alongside music, dancing, and the playful tradition of cracking red eggs for good luck.
We’ve got extensive knowledge of the area, and our fantastic lead crew will ensure we see the best of this fantastic part of Greece during your 2 week voyage. April can be a changeable time weather-wise, so as sailors, we won’t surprised if the route needs to be adapted to suit the variable conditions that we will certainly experience. Wherever we go, you can be sure that our crew will make sure we go to some great locations, with hearty warm food and a cold drink to round of some great sailing days in the spring Aegean sun.

Area Information
The Saronic Gulf, is a beautiful sailing area just to the south of Athens. Picturesque islands like Poros, with its car-free main town and colorful houses, and Hydra, famed for its car-free atmosphere, donkey rides, and artistic heritage, beckon for relaxed exploration. Don’t miss ancient Epidaurus, renowned for its well-preserved amphitheater, a stunning venue for summer performances. Aegina, the largest Saronic island, boasts ancient temples, charming villages, and delicious pistachios.
South of the Saronic Gulf lies the Argolic Gulf, steeped in history and natural beauty. Spetses, a car-free island favored by Greek shipowners, offers neoclassical mansions, horse-drawn carriages, and secluded coves. Nafplion, a captivating port town, was once the first capital of modern Greece. Explore its Venetian castles, charming harbor, and nearby Mycenae, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its ancient citadel and Lion Gate.
Beyond the Saronic and Argolic Gulfs, the Cycladic islands of Kythnos and Kea offer a taste of Cycladic charm without the crowds. Kythnos entices with its traditional villages, hidden beaches, and laid-back atmosphere. Kea, known for its Cycladic architecture, vineyards, and scenic hiking trails, provides a peaceful escape. Finally Lavrion on the mainland is home to the temple of Poseidon, a landmark which has long seen seafarer off for voyages in the Aegean.

Weather & Sailing Conditions
The weather in April can be changeable, with typical daytime temperatures in the mid 20s with slightly cooler evenings. Wind strength is typically force 3 to 5, although be prepared for stiffer breezes at this time of year. The water temperature is a little cooler for swimming, but good for the circulation!
