Flotilla sailing in Italy

Our Italy flotillas are two-week explorers. You skipper your own yacht, sailing in company with a small group of other yachts, while our lead crew keep you fully briefed every day. Or book a cabin on our fully crewed lead yacht.

The Sicily & the Aeolian Islands explorer starts and finishes at Marina La Cala in Palermo. Week one heads east to Cefalù and the volcanic Aeolian Islands of Alicudi, Filicudi, Salina and Lipari (about 192 nautical miles); week two heads west to San Vito lo Capo and the Egadi Islands of Favignana, Marettimo and Levanzo, returning by Castellammare del Golfo (about 164 nautical miles). New dates are coming soon.

The Pula to Venice explorer sails from ACI Marina Pula on 5 June 2027: north along the Istrian coast, across the Adriatic to Cavallino with a day ashore in Venice, south to Chioggia, then back to Croatia and through the islands south of Pula, about 290 nautical miles over two weeks.

Which flotillas do you run in Italy?

Two-week explorer flotillas: Sicily and the Aeolian Islands, from Palermo, with new dates coming soon, and Pula to Venice, from Pula in Croatia across the Northern Adriatic to Venice, starting on 5 June 2027.

Where do they start, and which airport do I fly to?

The Sicily flotilla starts and finishes at Marina La Cala in Palermo, about 30 minutes by taxi from Palermo airport. Pula to Venice starts and finishes at ACI Marina Pula, about 20 minutes by taxi from Pula airport, which has direct flights from London Gatwick and Luton.

How much do they cost?

On Pula to Venice you can charter your own yacht from £4,647 for the two weeks, or book a cabin on the lead yacht from £1,595pp. Prices for the next Sicily flotilla are coming soon: ask for a quote to be the first to know.

Can I book a cabin instead of a whole yacht?

Yes: both explorers have a fully crewed lead yacht with cabins, including breakfast and lunch on board.

What is the sailing like?

Both are explorer flotillas with longer passages than a weekly flotilla: about 192 nautical miles in week one of the Sicily explorer and about 164 in week two, and about 290 nautical miles over the two weeks of Pula to Venice, which includes open-water crossings of the Adriatic, so be prepared for stiffer breezes. Routes may vary with the weather, and our flotilla crew keep you fully briefed each day.

Do I need sailing experience?

To skipper your own yacht you need an ICC (International Certificate of Competence) or equivalent; we can arrange the ICC assessment. On Pula to Venice, the skipper also needs a VHF radio operator’s certificate, such as the RYA SRC, for Croatian waters. If you have no previous sailing experience, we can provide a skipper, or you can book a cabin on the fully crewed lead yacht.

How do I book?

Tell us your dates and party size: call our team on 020 8324 3118 (Monday to Friday 09:00 to 19:00, Saturday 09:30 to 17:00), email info@seafarerholidays.com or ask for a quote, and we will help you choose the right flotilla, yacht and dates.
