Spain yacht charter: weather and winds in Mallorca

Mallorca enjoys around 300 sunny days a year. In summer, daytime temperatures reach around 31°C in July and August, and the sea warms from about 18°C in May to 25 to 26°C in August, staying warm enough for swimming well into October.

The most reliable summer wind is the embat, a thermal sea breeze that builds from late morning into the afternoon, mainly in the Bay of Palma and along the south coast, so there is good afternoon sailing close to our base. The cooler northerly tramuntana is most common in winter and early spring, while the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana shelter Palma and much of the south coast. From October to April there is more risk of stronger winds.
