The village of Orhaniye, at the head of Hisarönü bay is located 30km southwest of Marmaris, it is a small village set by the pine trees. Locals set out beehives to collect the famous pine honey. The village also boasts the sand bank of Kızkumu. Just out of the village centre to the north is Martı Marina. It has very modern facilities, showers, toilets, as well as laundry services, a luxury spa, a swimming pool and a beach area where you can relax. There is a well stocked supermarket in the marina.

Orhaniye provides a perfect spot from which to explore the Datca penninsula as far as Knidos to the west, and to explore east towards Marmaris. A fantastic mixture of small towns, quiet restaurant quays and busier towns make this an excellent cruising area, with some great summer breezes, accentuated by the Meltemi in the high summer months.

Sailing and weather conditions

Sailors can expect offshore north-westerly winds of 15-20 knots. The area is exposed to the Meltemi winds which pick up in the afternoon, reaching Force 3-5 – or occasionally Force 6-7 – alongside local winds and katabatics. You can be assured or ‘ashored’ of many sheltered anchorages and protective coves when you disembark for the evening in search of delicious Turkish cuisine and a raki nightcap.
