Dodecanese yacht charter from Kos

Kos is the third largest of the Dodecanese islands and the birthplace of Hippocrates, considered the father of medicine. Rich in archaeological history, it is a popular base from which to explore the Dodecanese and the nearby Turkish coast.

Our base is in the marina in Kos Town itself, a relatively modern but picturesque town dominated by the Castle of the Knights near the port.

A week takes you south to Nisyros, Tilos, Halki, Rhodes and Symi; with two weeks you can sail north to Kalymnos, Leros, Patmos, Fourni and Lipsi, then west to Astypalaia.

Sample itinerary

A sample week sailing from Kos

A suggested seven-night route south through the Dodecanese, to Nisyros, Tilos, Halki, Rhodes and Symi.

  1. Day1

    Arrive at Kos Marina

Fly from the UK to Kos and transfer to Kos Marina for embarkation.

  2. Day2

    Nisyros (23nm)

A small volcanic island just south of Kos. Head to White Beach for sand, or Chochlaki beach for excellent windsurfing and snorkelling, and try the local chickpea dish, pithia.

  3. Day3

    Tilos (20nm)

The epitome of a traditional Greek island, with pleasant beaches, a friendly, far-from-the-crowds feel and an internationally protected bird sanctuary.

  4. Day4

    Halki (17nm)

A traditional harbour town protected by UNESCO. Spend the day on a local beach or hike to the abandoned village of Chorio.

  5. Day5

    Mandraki, Rhodes (34nm)

Said to be where the Colossus of Rhodes once stood, the harbour greets you with its deer statues. See the imposing St Nicholas Fortress, explore the Old Town and visit the Evangelismos Church next to the harbour, built by the Italians in 1925.

  6. Day6

    Symi (23nm)

Colourful neoclassical houses line the spectacular harbour, and the amphitheatre-shaped town keeps its traditional character. Climb the steps to the church for a superb panoramic view.

  7. Day7

    Back to Kos Marina (40nm)

A healthy passage back to base. Windsurfers may want to extend their stay on Kos for some of the best winds in the Med; ask us about a stay at Kefalos Beach Club.

  8. Day8

    Disembark

Disembark and transfer to Kos airport.

For two weeks, a suggested route runs from Kos to Kalymnos, Leros, Patmos, Fourni, Lipsi, Levitha, Astypalaia, Nisyros, Tilos, Halki, Rhodes and Symi, then back to Kos. This is a suggested route only. You are free to plan your own itinerary, and the base team will be happy to suggest harbours and anchorages to suit the weather.
